The crash took place at milepost 90.2 on Interstate 80, where the Wyoming Highway Patrol reported that six commercial trucks and two passenger vehicles were completely consumed by flames. Emergency crews worked throughout Saturday to clear debris from the site, managing to remove four passenger vehicles and nine commercial trucks by Saturday night.
As of Sunday afternoon, roughly half of the wreckage had been cleared from the approximately 1,200-foot tunnel. The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is implementing measures to restore traffic flow through the eastbound lanes of the tunnel. They have contracted DeBernardi Construction to reposition concrete barriers to create crossover lanes for traffic.
