The National Weather Service has reported that severe thunderstorms are moving into far northwest Georgia around 8 p.m., reaching metro Atlanta between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. Chief Meteorologist Brad Nitz warns that multiple strong tornadoes could occur during the early morning hours of Sunday. Wind gusts may reach up to 70 mph, with large hail possible.
As of now, flash flood warnings are in effect for Bartow, Carroll, Cobb, Douglas, Floyd, Haralson, Paulding, and Polk counties until 6:00 a.m. on Sunday. Additionally, tornado warnings were issued for Cherokee, Cobb, and Paulding counties until 12:15 a.m., while severe thunderstorm warnings remain active in various other counties.
