A 69-year-old woman from Germany has died after a collision on the Prinses Margrietkanaal, according to police.

On Monday afternoon, a cargo ship and a motor yacht collided near Warten, resulting in two individuals entering the water. The deceased woman and a 76-year-old man from Gelsenkirchen, Germany, were involved in the incident. The man was taken to the hospital for observation.
The cause of the collision is not known. The motor yacht sank partially and was eventually lifted onto the shore with a crane. The captain of the cargo ship involved in the collision has been detained, as per police protocol.
