The K980 features a cell that converts solar or artificial light into power, requiring a minimum of 200 lux. Once fully charged, it can be used in complete darkness for up to four months. The battery is “safely user-replaceable” according to Logitech spokesperson Melvin Dilanchian.
The keyboard has a standard full-size layout with Windows and macOS key labels, directional keys, and a numpad. It includes a mic mute key, a camera on/off toggle, and an Action key that can be programmed in the Logi Options Plus app.
“safely user-replaceable (because it’s encased in a plastic casing), with spare parts supplied by iFixIt.”

The K980’s power LED changes from green to red if it needs more charge, encouraging users to install the Options Plus app for monitoring light levels. It can also connect to a computer with a Logitech Bolt USB transmitter, though one is not included in the box.
