Coutaz revealed that she joined DICE in November 2021, just two weeks after the release of Battlefield 2042, which had faced major criticism for bugs, missing features, and failing to deliver the expected Battlefield experience.
According to Coutaz, the poor launch of Battlefield 2042 was a difficult period for the team, as players who had supported the franchise for decades felt disappointed. The team worked hard to improve the game over time, and while Battlefield 2042 is in a far better state now compared to when it was released, the process was long and challenging.
“It was a difficult time,” Coutaz says. “We had a lot of expectations from the community and the players who have been with US for decades. So we owed some things to them – and, of course, to our teams as well.”

When asked about Battlefield 6, Coutaz explained the decision to return to a modern-day setting, noting it had been more than a decade since Battlefield 4, the last modern-day entry in the series.
Coutaz expressed a sense of responsibility toward the Battlefield community, stating she has “felt an obligation” to create one of the best Battlefield games for the fans and the team at DICE.
“I have felt an obligation to create one of the best Battlefields the world has ever seen. I owe that to the community and to the teams. That is my drive. That’s why I’m here.”
