On October 1, 2025, Microsoft announced significant changes to Game Pass, including a price increase for Game Pass Ultimate to $30 per month, up from $20. This change affects users across Xbox consoles, PC, and cloud gaming.
Details of the Price Increase
The price of Game Pass Ultimate has increased by 50 percent, now costing $30 per month. This marks a nearly doubling of the price in just 15 months, as it was previously raised from $17 to $20 in July 2024. The annual cost now totals $360, making it more than twice as expensive as PlayStation Plus Premium, which is currently $160 annually.
Additionally, Microsoft has raised the price of PC Game Pass from $12 to $16.50 per month. Xbox Series X/S consoles will also see a price increase starting this Friday. The ROG Xbox Ally handheld’s higher-end model is priced at $1,000.
New Features and Game Additions
Despite the price increase, Microsoft is expanding Game Pass Ultimate by adding over 45 new games, including titles from Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry, due to the inclusion of Ubisoft+ in the service. Starting November 18, Ultimate members will receive Fortnite Crew as part of their subscription, which typically costs $12 per month.
Ultimate subscribers will also gain access to over 75 day-one games annually, averaging six new titles per month. The library now includes more than 400 games, including titles from EA Play. Xbox Cloud Gaming is now officially out of beta, providing higher-quality streaming with lower wait times.
