Microsoft announced a price increase for Xbox Game Pass tiers, stating it understands that such changes are not well-received. The adjustments aim to enhance value for users.
Details on Price Increases
According to Microsoft director of gaming and platform communications Dustin Blackwell, the company is “trying to reinforce” its offerings by “adding more value to these plans.” The price for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate rose from $19.99/£14.99 to $29.99/£22.99 per month. Additionally, the Xbox Game Pass Standard, now called Xbox Game Pass Premium, and PC Game Pass also saw price increases.
Blackwell emphasized that the price adjustments reflect the additional content being offered, particularly in the Ultimate tier. Game Pass Ultimate now includes access to over 400 titles globally, featuring many partner games that will be available on the service.
Furthermore, subscribers will gain access to more than 75 day one releases each year, marking a 50 percent increase over the previous year’s offerings. This enhancement is part of Microsoft’s strategy to respond to player feedback and community requests.
Recent Hardware Price Changes
In addition to the Game Pass price increases, Microsoft also announced a second price hike for its Xbox Series X|S consoles in the united states. This adjustment will see prices rise between $20 and $70 across its hardware range.
