Microsoft’s Windows 11 25H2 update is now available to users as of October 1, 2025. However, it has launched with four known issues, which may not significantly affect most users.
Windows 11 25H2 Update Overview
The 25H2 update introduces a few improvements over the previous 24H2 version. However, it is not considered a major update. Microsoft plans to add features like a revamped Start Menu and a new tool for cross-device integration in future updates. The update has inherited issues from the 24H2 version, as both share the same base code.
One notable issue is the occasional inability to play DRM content, which affects users trying to watch protected movies or videos. This problem is linked to the ‘Enhanced Video Renderer,’ and a fix is expected by October 2025. Another issue involves the Windows Update Standalone Installer (WUSA), which struggles to install .msu files, particularly in enterprise environments.
Additionally, the Media Creation Tool no longer functions on ARM64 platforms, displaying an error message when run. Microsoft has stated that the tool does not support the creation of installation media for ARM64 PCs, although it remains functional for x86 builds.
Next Steps for Users
Users interested in the 25H2 update can access it by enabling the ‘Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available’ option in the Windows update section. Alternatively, they can download it through the enablement package update files.
