Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy update, One UI 8.5, is revealing visual changes, including a new “3D” effect for icons. This update is anticipated to launch on the Galaxy S26 series early next year.
Visual Changes in One UI 8.5
Recent leaks from multiple sources indicate that the latest early build of One UI 8.5 features homescreen icons with a subtle “3D” appearance. This effect makes icons appear as if they are popping out of the display, primarily due to a drop shadow effect. Additionally, several app redesigns have been noted, including bolder looks for apps like Digital Wellbeing and a gradient feature in the Gallery app.
Other notable changes include “partial screen” support for screen recording and UI elements that evoke Apple’s Liquid Glass aesthetics. These floating UI elements contribute to a more modern interface. New family sharing features have also been identified in this build.
Upcoming Features and Launch Timeline
The “Private display” feature, expected to debut with the Galaxy S26, has also been spotted in the latest One UI 8.5 build. The official launch of One UI 8.5 is anticipated to coincide with the release of the Galaxy S26 series in early 2026.
