On September 30, 2025, Amazon unveiled new AI-powered features for its Ring cameras and doorbells. These enhancements allow users to recognize faces and assist in locating lost pets by connecting with neighbors.
New AI Features for Ring Cameras
The latest Ring cameras will feature a capability called “Familiar Faces.” This uses AI to identify friends and family. Users can enroll the faces of their loved ones, allowing the device to send alerts upon recognition. The AI also notifies users when an unfamiliar person is detected.
Another feature, named Search Party, helps users find lost pets. When a pet is reported lost, nearby Ring users receive a description and can report any sightings. This system relies on voluntary reports from users. Privacy controls allow users to ignore alerts if they choose.
Upcoming Product Launches
Both Familiar Faces and Search Party will be available starting in December. The Search Party feature for dogs will launch in November, with future support for cats and other pets planned. The new features will come preloaded on Ring’s Retinal 2K and Retinal 4K devices, which utilize advanced imaging technology.
