The Galaxy S26 series will be Samsung’s next flagship launch, expected early next year. Significant changes are anticipated, particularly in the camera setup, which has reportedly been finalized for the new models.
No significant camera hardware upgrades expected
Samsung plans to replace the + model with the Edge in the upcoming lineup. The Galaxy S26 series may include the Galaxy S26 Pro as the base model, the Galaxy S26 Edge in the middle, and the Galaxy S26 Ultra at the top. The camera setup for the Galaxy S26 Pro is expected to remain virtually unchanged, featuring a 50-megapixel wide, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide, and a 10-megapixel 3x optical zoom camera, similar to the Galaxy S25. There are rumors of a potential new sensor for the main camera.
The Galaxy S26 Edge may not include a dedicated zoom camera and will likely retain its 200-megapixel wide sensor. However, the ultra-wide camera is expected to be upgraded from 12-megapixels on the Galaxy S25 Edge to 50-megapixels on the upcoming model.
For the Galaxy S26 Ultra, it is anticipated to feature the same ISOCELL HP2 200-megapixel primary sensor as its predecessor. It may also include a 50-megapixel ultra-wide and a 50-megapixel 5x optical zoom sensor, similar to this year’s model. The status of the secondary 10-megapixel 3x optical zoom sensor remains unclear, whether it will be the same or an upgraded version.
Samsung appears to be focusing more on software processing and AI capabilities to enhance the imaging experience, rather than making extensive upgrades to camera hardware, which has disappointed some tech enthusiasts.
