Sony has released an updated version of its PS5 Slim in Europe on 2025-10-01 17:14:00. The new console features less usable storage compared to its predecessor.

Storage Details

The refreshed PS5 Slim is marketed with 825GB of storage. However, it only offers 667.2GB of usable space due to the operating system and pre-installed apps. In contrast, the older digital-only version of the console, which has a 1TB SSD, provides 848GB of usable storage.

Additionally, the updated PS5 Slim is approximately 100 grams lighter than the original model. It also features a new matte finish. Sony has not disclosed the reasons for these changes.

Market Context

Sony’s recent blog post mentions a “challenging economic environment” as a factor for raising prices, although it does not specify if this applies to the PS5 Slim. There is currently no information regarding the potential launch of this updated console outside of Europe.
