Microsoft has announced the general availability of Windows 11 version 25H2 after months of testing. The update is now rolling out and will be available for download via Windows Update.
Details of the Update
Windows 11 version 25H2 is a minor update delivered as an enablement package. It sits on top of version 24H2, which means the download and installation process is expected to be quick. This version does not introduce notable new changes or enhancements over version 24H2, as both releases are based on the same platform.
Users who upgrade to version 25H2 will benefit from a reset of the support lifecycle clock. This means that Home and Pro editions will receive support for 24 months, while Enterprise and Education editions will have 36 months of support. In contrast, version 24H2 is already over a year into its lifecycle.
To ensure you receive the update promptly, select the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” toggle in Windows Update. Microsoft is rolling out the update in waves, so it may not be available immediately for all users.
Future Features and Availability
While version 25H2 does not include new features, Microsoft is working on several updates that are expected to be released in the coming weeks. These include a new Start menu, improvements to dark mode, and updates to Phone Link.
