EA’s football series had struggled on Nintendo consoles, with previous entries being ports of older Legacy Editions. The last significant update was with EA Sports FC 24, which began to restore feature parity for Nintendo players.
EA Sports FC 26 includes every mode found in the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions, featuring new gameplay presets and an improved Manager Career mode. The Ultimate Team mode also includes new features like Tournaments and the Gauntlet mode.
However, the Switch version runs at 30 frames per second instead of 60 due to the switch to the Frostbite engine. This drop in frame rate may affect visuals but does not significantly impact gameplay.
While the game maintains visual quality, the menu system shows signs of strain and can be clunky, particularly in Ultimate Team. The online player pool on Switch 2 is smaller compared to other consoles, affecting match availability.
Crossplay is not possible due to differences in gameplay engine, and the Switch version has a separate transfer market with fewer items available. There is no cross-save functionality between consoles.
