The estimated street value of the drug haul is 72 million euros. The truck drivers reportedly departed from Portugal, each transporting 1.5 tons of cocaine, and were en route to Northern Europe. French customs had been monitoring the trucks since Spain, following a tip.
One truck driver was apprehended near Tours while heading to Paris, and the other was stopped about 200 kilometers away at Saint-Arnoult on the A10, near one of the largest toll stations in the country. The cargo was packed in light brown jute bags.
