A chair that helps with urine loss, lower back pain, and even potency issues has recently been introduced at Medifit in Breda. Lifestyle coach Nathalie Gerrits-Saanen (38) endorses the MyPelvi chair, which uses magnetic pulses to train pelvic floor muscles.
- MyPelvi-stoel helps with urine loss and back pain.
- Elise de Visser is a user experiencing incontinence.
- The chair is located in sportcentrum Medifit, Breda.
- Treatment costs average 39 euros per session.
- One in four women has pelvic floor issues.
- Over thirty locations in the Netherlands offer MyPelvi.
One of the first users, Elise de Visser (38), has experienced incontinence since the birth of her son. She describes her condition as something to be ashamed of, stating that sneezing or climbing stairs sometimes leads to urine loss.
Elise explains the sensation of the chair, saying, “It seems like you are tightening and relaxing your buttocks repeatedly.” She notes that it feels strange but is not painful. Nathalie mentions that they also see men with prostate or erection problems using the chair.
“Bij sommige programma’s krijg je korte stootjes en bij andere juist een langdurige trilling,”
— Nathalie Gerrits-Saanen, Lifestyle Coach
According to Nathalie, pelvic floor issues are a significant but often hidden problem, affecting at least one in four women. More than a million Dutch people suffer from complaints ranging from urine loss to lower back pain or erection issues.
The chair aims to break the taboo surrounding these issues, allowing users to discuss their problems openly. Elise is one of the first clients to try the MyPelvi chair, and while many users are women, more men are also seeking help.
Nathalie notes that the MyPelvi chair is still relatively new in the Netherlands, with over thirty locations now offering it. The device is already popular in Germany and Switzerland, and its use in the Netherlands is expected to grow.
After 22 minutes on the chair, Elise reports a noticeable difference after five sessions, saying her pelvic floor feels more relaxed. She emphasizes that the cost of treatment, averaging 39 euros per session, is worth it for the benefits.
